Statistics: The branch of mathematics concerned with collecting, organising, presenting and interpreting data.
Data: Information, often numerical, collected for analysis.
Primary data: Data collected directly by the person carrying out the investigation.
Secondary data: Data collected by someone else and used by the investigator.
Qualitative data: Data that describes qualities or categories, such as colour or type, rather than numbers.
Quantitative data: Data that consists of numbers, such as heights or scores.
Discrete data: Numerical data that can only take particular separate values, such as the number of pets.
Continuous data: Numerical data that can take any value within a range, such as height or weight.
