Autotroph: An organism, such as a green plant, that makes its own food (organic molecules) from inorganic raw materials rather than feeding on others.
Producer: An organism that produces its own food by photosynthesis and forms the start of a food chain.
Word equation for photosynthesis: Carbon dioxide + water -> glucose + oxygen, occurring in the presence of light and chlorophyll.
Balanced symbol equation for photosynthesis: 6CO2 + 6H2O -> C6H12O6 + 6O2, carried out in the presence of light and chlorophyll.
